The Mermaid Box Video Tutorial is here

Good morning my dear friends,

some of you may have noticed that i was very quiet for  more than a week now and have been waiting and waiting for this tutorial.. unfortunately, i was admitted to hospital the other week with a severe liver condition and it was only this weekend i came home, still on a course of various tablets i have to take and not yet back to my former self!

So this is my first tutorial since i am back home and i hope you love making mermaid boxes for your own purposes. They fit 2 bottles of Revlon Nail Varnish perfectly, btw.

The measurements of the card stock and DSP are as follows:

11 1/2" x 5 1/2" in dapper denim

DSP:    2 x   3 1/4" x 1 1/4"
            2 x   1 3/4" x 1 1/4"
            1 x   1 3/4" x 3 1/4"

You will also need 2 circles of 1"  in dapper denim and a punched out label in dapper denim.

You score the card stock as follows:

On the long side, score at 1/2",4", 6", 9 1/2"    rotate card stock for 90° clockwise
On the short side, score at 2" and 3 1/2" all the way down.
Now, find the 4" score mark on the vertical scale to the left, and score down from it at the 1/2" score mark of the horizontal scale. It means you skip the first 4 inches.
Now, go to the 4 1/2 " score mark on your upper horizontal scale and score down only to the 5" mark on the vertical scale to your left.Skip the next few inches and carry on scoring on that mark at 10 1/2" of the vertical scale to your left.
Now, rotate your card stock anti-clockwise so the smallest sections ( closing flaps ) will be on the left, and score at 5" and 10 1/2" only down to the first score line they can meet.

I know this process of scoring is complicated and i recommend watching the video tutorial first before scoring.
Once scoring is complete, get rid of the spare bits as described and assemble your box.
I hope you will enjoy making this box and the magnets are everywhere on Ebay available,
 i used 6 mm x 1 mm size.

Let me know how you got on and thanks for dropping by, and hopefully i will not need to go back to hospital anytime soon so no more waiting time for more awesome projects!

Have a nice day and bye for now

JoJo xx

Great tip about the magnets, I have always struggled when placing them inside (I just guessed!)but it is obvious when pointed out ;) Love this box, it is so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. I wish you a speedy recovery, I hope you feel better soon. Best wishes.
