Quilling Paper Beads

Hi everybody,

as some of you may know, i received a totally stunning swap at the Onstage event in Telford last Saturday, and the swap was 2 paper beads.

This inspired me to give it a try today, and these are my 4 beads i made today.

It is kind of tricky to quill the paper 100% straight to achieve a well shaped bead, but i am getting there.

I am really grateful for the inspiration so thanks again ! ( unfortunately, i have already forgotten her name again but will look it up tomorrow when i am back in my studio where her swap is).

I used 3/8" wide paper strips and unset eyelets to make the beads... the paper strips need to be cut into a narrowing shape towards the end to achieve the belly of the bead.. it`s kind of difficult to describe i guess it`s easier to see how it`s done in a video.

It also depends on the thickness of the DSP one is using of how many 12" strips will be needed etc.. so there is no general rule of how much you need.. it`s kind of deciding as you quill along!

I love this cute little idea nd will probably make many more over time but currently i am really busy with workshops and customer orders so for today, it was only 4 beads.

My Swaps for Onstage Local Telford 2018 + free video tutorials

Hi lovely people,

i am just quickly showing you my two swaps i created for the onstage event in Telford 2018!

The first one is a really pretty card featuring the beautiful Day stamp set, and the second one is wildflower seeds in a vellum bag, featuring the autumn harvest stamp set.

I created the free video tutorials in the aftermath of the onstage event because i simply did not have enough swaps for everyone. I made 50, and they were gone in less than 10 minutes, so seemed to be really popular and now all those who couldn`t attend or did not get one can make the projects, too.

Mini quilt made from DSP "true gentleman"

Good evening dear friends,

today, i want to show you this mini quilt that combines freehand embroidery, quilting, die cutting and stamping on one piece!

I used the true gentleman DSP to create the quilt, and used the detailed dragonfly dies to create my appliques.

I also stamped the background with timeless textures stamp set in crumb cake and soft suede before embroidering the dragonflies to the very vanilla card stock.

Once my design was complete i sew the distressed panel onto my quilt, then added three colour matching paper flowers to it - et voila!

I just love to create different stuff and this quilt has the size 8 1/4"  x 11 3/4" and can be framed of course.

The quilting technique allows to create book covers, pictures and card center pieces, to name just a few.

I will very soon hold a workshop for this technique at the Allendale Forge Studios, so stay tuned!

My 2nd Entry to the Global Design Project #GDP096 Challenge

Good morning friends,

this is my 2nd entry to the GDP Challenge  #GDP096, and this time i went for a bold colour combnation of lemon lime twist and berry burst!

I created a card base 4" x 6" in lemon lime twist and teamed it up with berry burst to die cut my front panels from.

I used the sheet music background stamp and the oh so eclectic stamp & die bundle to embellish the card front.

The square shaped pieces have been die cut from the stitched shapes framelits die set and i also stamped the smaller piece with the sheet music background stamp in colour-coordingating lemon me twist.

I layered it all with dimensionals to add some depth and inked the edges of the card with lemon lime twist again to finish it off.

The sentiment was stamped in berry burst and i cut it to the banner shape by hand.

This card has a matching envelope made from DSP in pink & white and it measured 8 1/2" and i used the envelope punch board to create the envelope for this card.

My Entry to the Global Design Project #GDP096 Challenge

 

Good afternoon dear friends,

i have just finished my this week´s entry for the Global Design Challenge #GDP096!

This weeks challenge was to CASE this card:

My card measures 5" x 7" and i used chocolate chip card stock to cut out a 3 1/2" square for my front.

I also used my  chocolate chip ink pad to spritz the card base very lightly with the ink, as well a a white 3" x 3" panel. I also used a brush to add random texture to it.

I die cut the twig and the leaf from chocolate chip card stock and layered the skeleton leaf on a die cut piece of vellum that matches the shape.

I wrapped silver wire around my white panel before layering my panel onto the brown panel, using dimensionals to add some depth.

I the stamped my sentiment in chocolate chip an white card stock and used the label me pretty punch to puch it out. I also wrapped silver wire around it before gluing it to my card front, and that was my card finished!

I think this card is fab as a sympathy card and i very elegant and sleek.
