Keep Calm and have a Cuppa Cube

Good evening folks,

i have been working on this project over the last  days and i am happy i finished it off today and am able to present it to you.

I call it the Keep Calm and have a Cuppa Cube because apparently, the exploding box holds a cup and various sachets of tea and coffee.
The box i made from chipboard covered with DSP and the leather like closing straps give this vintage look to the box.
I got inspired by the gentleman crafter whose Pinterest Pin i saw and decided to give this closure a try, so credits for the closure to him!
Think it worked out quite nicely and makes the box look really special.
It´s a birthday gift for a friend of us who turns 60 tomorrow, and i hope he will like the box.

The studs i used for the closure are screwed in and i bought them from Ebay Uk. The paper apparently is not from SU, as i was after this typical vintage look for a male themed box, and SU does not have it. I think i bought the paper at the Works Store in Gateshead, but not sure any more.
The cube measures 4 1/2" squared and is really sturdy.
To give the straps the leathery look i used brown ink i brushed into the paper and once it was dried i brushed a layer of distress crackle paint over it and dried it with my heat tool.
As a result, the paper looks like real leather and i really love this look, and hopefully, you do too!

There is a little Youtube teaser video for this box too, you can watch it here:

Thanks for dropping by and have a fab weekend!
